Goals and Objective:
Become familiar with ward and stake emergency preparedness response
plans.
Consider the hypothetical earthquake scenario:
1. East committee member learn the information and skill necessary to become experts for teaching and training ward members regarding emergency preparedness and disaster response.
2. Develop and emergency communications plan that will provide the ability to effectively communicate within the ward members, with ward and stake leaders.
3. Establish a program for certifying several people in the wards and stake as amateur HAM radio operators.
4. Provide the stake and ward EOC's with the call letters of each HAM radio operator.
5. Take an inventory of FSR type radio though out the ward and stake.
6. In addition to HAM radio communications, develop other alternative means of communications and compile pertinent information that will be useful for these alternative communication methods.
7. Conduct regular communication exercises.
8. Outline communication procedures that will be used in the event of an emergency or disaster.
9. Encourage committee and ward members to become CERT certified.
10. Write a comprehensive communication response plant that can be incorporated into the ward and stake emergency preparedness and disaster response plans.
