- AVERT's Board
of Trustees was appointed in 1995 by the Salt Lake County Board
of Commissioners as a Citizen Advisory Board.
- Late in 1998,
the Board of Trustees completed the task of reorganizing as a
501(c)(3) Non-Profit, Non-Government Corporation.
- Federal Employer
Identification Number (EIN) is 87-0570190
- All AVERT Members
and Directors are volunteers and receive no compensation for
the services they provide to AVERT and their communities.
- AVERT is organized for the purposes of:
- Developing and
Promoting CERT
Programs
and Teams;
- Providing CERT
training classes and practice drills
to the public and businesses;
- Equipping active
Emergency Response Teams (ERTs);
- Maintaining
databases of members, teams and programs
for use by local Emergency Managers (EMs) in planning.
- In October of
1998, we amended our articles and bylaws to change our name from "Association
of Valley Emergency Response Teams" to its current form
and authorize our policies
and procedures.
- AVERT does not
have an active response mission in that each member of AVERT
responds with his or her own community team when disaster strikes.
- We continue
to work closely with communities and government agencies to provide
as many CERTs as possible with equipment, training, information
and guidance so that they may provide a vital public service
to their communities in times of disaster or emergency.
- We will continue
to provide the Public with disaster preparedness
and recovery information through our web site and to advise Local
Emergency Managers regarding issues of concern to disaster and
emergency service organizations and volunteers.
